The array of images in this volume are part and parcel of an ongoing compulsion in abstraction that dates back to the mid-1960s. The design of the photograph has been my overriding concern throughout some 55 years of working in landscape, portraiture, and abstraction. There are no fundamental differences within these genres. At times one may become the other.
